The Jacksonville Jaguars cannot stay a consistently good team so far this season and the brunt of that is on quarterback Blake Bortles Cheap Telvin Smith Jersey , who lights it up on even numbered weeks and plays like he bet his mortgage against himself on odd numbered weeks. And against the Kansas City Chiefs, it was an odd numbered week, folks. In honor of Blake’s five turnovers today — and the jersey number for the guy who was probably most to blame for the team’s collapse — let’s talk about the five players who most stood out today.1. Blake BortlesDo not look at the box score. Do not look at the stat line. It only tells you part of the story and it’s not even the most important. Not even the fact that Blake threw four interceptions and fumbled once tells you what you need to know. It’s the how that discourages me most about Blake’s play today. Did you not see the BIGGEST DUDE ON THE FIELD IN A RED JERSEY, man? What is this?Or this?Offensive coordinator went away from the run game early (for whatever reason) and Blake played as bad as he’s ever played. On three consecutive drives in the second quarter, Blake fumbled the ball away, threw a pick-six, and then threw another interception three yards away from the end zone.2. Jermey ParnellLike Blake, this was about as bad a game out of Parnell as I can remember. Blake was sacked five times and hit a total of 11 times, mostly because of the right side of the offensive line. (We’ll get to A.J. Cann next.)I’ll blame Blake for the four interceptions, but Parnell deserves some blame on that fumble.3. A.J. CannAside from one of the five sacks today coming when Cann whiffed on Chris Jones, there was a play where Cann and Parnell seemingly just let their guys go by them and didn’t react until two or three seconds after the ball was snapped. (If you have the video, please send it my way so I can include it here.)In all, the offensive line played poorly, but Cann and Parnell were especially bad today.4. Donte MoncriefMoncrief led the game by a mile with 15 targets but he only came away with six catches. Some of those were on Blake, who missed him bad on two deep passes on the opening drive. Some of those were on scheme, like when he was asked to make a jump ball catch in the end zone and, well, he’s not very good at those. But some misses were on drops or unfinished routes.5. Telvin SmithI didn’t want to include anyone on the defense here on principle, since they’re going to catch unnecessary flak after holding the league’s best offense to just 23 points at home. But Telvin was woefully underwhelming in the first half before the game got away from the Jaguars. On the first series alone, he was beat three times in pass coverage — granted, one was a perfect pass from Patrick Mahomes, but the other two he was just late.I mean, how do you defend that?Honorable Mention: Nathaniel HackettGod I hate blaming the offensive coordinator, but the offensive game plan was either awful or they moved away from it too early. T.J. Yeldon was doing well so unless he was injured, I don’t know why you are throwing on third and fourth down near the goal line, why Blake ends up with 70 drop backs (61 pass attempts, five sacks, and four rushes), why running backs had just 13 carries Jermey Parnell Jersey , why Moncrief was getting the lion’s share of carries, why we didn’t attack the middle of the field until the second half, and... I just don’t understand what I saw on offense today.Scouting the AFC South: Preseason Week 1 Week 1 of the preseason has already wrapped up for the AFC South, and with us already having broken down the results of the Jaguars opener, we take a look at the division rivals and how they fared.Colts take opener 19-17 over Seahawks in Luck’s returnIndianapolis went out to the home of “The 12s” and walked out with an opening victory to start the preseason. The biggest story, however, was the return of quarterback Andrew Luck after missing the entire 2017 season to a shoulder injury. Luck led two field goal drives in his return, finishing 6/9 for 64 yards. Meanwhile, the injury bug still managed to strike the Colts, as running back Marlon Mack injured his hamstring and will miss several weeks, and the team lost a potential playmaker for the season, as rookie receiver Deon Cain tore his ACL.Watson sees limited action in 17-10 winThursday night also saw another much anticipated return of an injured quarterback, as Deshaun Watson saw the field for the first time following a torn ACL that ended his 2017 rookie season early, as the Texans beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Watson threw only one pass for 4 yards, and a majority of the Texans’ star players returning from injury did not participate in the game, including Jadaveon Clowney and JJ Watt. Back up quarterback Brandon Weeden threw for 2 touchdowns, as he battles Joe Webb who led the Texans in rushing on the night with 42 yards, while also going 6/13 for 56 yards. Former Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne led the Chiefs passing attack, throwing for 91 yards with a touchdown and interception.Titans drop preseason opener, and the heavens rejoiceIn a game that saw Aaron Rodgers in street clothes, Marcus Mariota led an opening touchdown drive capped with a pass to receiver Darius Jennings that was matched by a opening Brett Hundley touchdown drive, with the Titans and Packers ending even at 7 when the starters sat. The Green Bay back ups proved to be the dominant side the rest of the way, as former Jaguars quarterback and cry baby, Blaine Gabbert, couldn’t find any success in his time giving way to rookie Luke Falk. The Titans back ups got boat raced in the final quarter, losing the game 31-17 and as always, losing in life because they are the Titans.

Franko Discussion / I think this defense

He has traveled a long road: starter and castoff Authentic Shaquem Griffin Jersey , journeyman and backup. Now Nick Foles stands at the summit of his sport.

How did it happen? Oh, sure, there was the mid-December injury to rising star Carson Wentz, with Foles stepping in and stepping up. But how, in a breathtaking championship game Sunday night, did this quarterback beat Tom Brady at the five-time Super Bowl winner’s specialty, a shootout?

For Foles – and for his Philadelphia Eagles – there is one underlying theme to it all: perseverance.

”The big thing is don’t be afraid to fail,” Foles, the Super Bowl, MVP, said sleepless hours after he guided the drive of a lifetime for the winning points in a 41-33 victory over league MVP Brady and the defending champion New England Patriots.

”In our society, with (social media) it’s a highlight reel. I think when you have a rough day, you’re feeling you can’t – failure is a part of your life. I wouldn’t be up here if I hadn’t failed a million times.

”You share that. I’m human, not superman. When you struggle in your life, it’s an opportunity to grow. If there’s something going on in your life, embrace it.”

That’s exactly what Foles and coach Doug Pederson said Monday was the approach throughout the 2017 season by the Eagles. They had gone 7-9 the previous year with rookie Wentz as the starter. He improved meteorically this season and was a leading MVP contender before tearing up his knee in Week 14.

That was one of many key injuries the Eagles had to deal with on the way to their first Super Bowl title and the Lombardi Trophy – their first NFL crown since 1960, when they beat coach Vince Lombardi himself and the Green Bay Packers. Veteran tackle Jason Peters, versatile running back Darren Sproles, specials teams ace Chris Maragos and starting linebacker Jordan Hicks all were lost for the season.

Adversity.

”It’s tough,” said Pederson, whose willingness to stay aggressive was a major reason the Eagles won the NFC East at 13-3, then won three more times in the postseason. ”It’s something you spend a lot of time thinking about how you want to talk to the team. Part of it was entrusting the players a little bit, allow them to sort of embrace it and the `next man up’ mentality.”

Foles Authentic Philip Rivers Jersey , of course, was the next man behind center. He hardly was a stopgap, though, and Pederson recognized that.

The coach went back to tapes of Foles’ work with the Eagles under Chip Kelly, and then to his games with the Rams and Chiefs. Pederson made some adjustments to fit what made Foles most comfortable – the wheel route to backs and tight ends was particularly effective for Foles – and then turned lose his No. 2 QB.

”It was just a matter of him spending time with the guys, take a lot of repetitions in practice,” Pederson said. ”We knew in the building we’d be OK with him.”

OK? Doug, you and the Eagles are NFL champions.

”I think this team is full of great character men,” said Pederson, who was a player and coach for Andy Reid, his mentor, and now, perhaps ironically, has the trophy Reid hadn’t been able to hoist. ”The leadership in the locker room – part of the message was putting it back on the players and the players own it. Not having selfish coaches and players gives you a chance to win this game.”

Philadelphia is a young team. Indeed, it might have arrived at the top ahead of schedule. It definitely arrived in a different manner than it expected.

That leaves the question of Foles’ future. He’s under contract for one more year and the Eagles can afford to keep him. Wentz clearly is the franchise QB, though his rehab could make him unavailable for much of the preseason.

”I knew I couldn’t get off the stage” without being asked about the quarterback situation, Pederson joked Monday morning. ”We’ll just enjoy this moment, celebrate it with our fans in Philly. It’s not about one guy, it’s about the team.”

RENTON, Wash. (AP) Bobby Wagner reacted as though he was hoping the question would come.

With all the changes on the Seattle Seahawks defense – the leaders, the voices, the veterans no longer around – will there be a new focus on a group of linebackers that at times has seemed underappreciated?

”It has always been about the guy in the middle,” Wagner said emphatically. ”So for me Chargers Cheap Jerseys , it’s not no different because that’s how I look at it, but from the outside maybe it is different because those guys are gone and you guys are looking for someone who is going to be that leader. Y’all ain’t got to look. You’re looking at the guy right here. I will be that guy and we’re going to be fine.”

And with that, any question about who the leading voice is on Seattle’s defense was quickly answered.

For most of the past half-decade, Seattle’s highly regarded defense was defined by the secondary with the catchy nickname and the flashy personalities. From there, attention often shifted to the defensive line and the type of chaos Michael Bennett and others created on – and sometimes off – the field.

Then there was Wagner and fellow linebacker K.J. Wright. They have been regarded as two of the best in the league at their positions and sometimes have received that level of recognition. But they were often relegated to a secondary role on their own team in terms of recognition even with Wagner being voted first-team All-Pro three times and Wright being a Pro Bowl selection.

”The attention has gone elsewhere, I guess,” Wright said. ”Nothing will change. We’ll still be the bad-ass linebackers on this team. We’ll still lead the way. Stuff will still be run in order. We’ll still make plays and it’ll be fun out there.”

Seattle’s offseason defensive overhaul saw Bennett, Richard Sherman and Sheldon Richardson find new homes; Cliff Avril and Kam Chancellor step away from the game due to neck injuries, and Earl Thomas hold out in search of a new contract. There are changes everywhere across Seattle’s defensive alignment, with the exception of the linebackers.

Wagner has been calling Seattle’s defense from the moment he arrived in the NFL and became a starter as a rookie. His partner the entire time has been Wright. With the departures, those voices they’ve used together for the past six seasons will be even louder.

”Yeah, they had the name, they got a lot of the attention and now the attention may shift to the linebackers,” Wagner said. ”But we pride ourselves on being the guys that lead this team and that has been my mindset since I stepped in. I had coach Norton teach me the way.”

Ken Norton Jr. has returned to Seattle to be the defensive coordinator. He was a mentor for Wagner and Wright as the linebackers coach when both arrived in the NFL. Now he’s returned with an even bigger imprint on what Seattle does defensively.

”He’s the linebackers guy and he put that responsibility more on us. He calls on me in the meeting room to answer most of the questions, calls on Bobby to answer the questions because he knows that we’re all on the same page,” Wright said. ”He knows that we’re the guys that can share our leadership abilities, share our knowledge of the game. He’s putting that on us.”

There may also be some schematic tweaks that give Wagner and Wright more freedom defensively. Wright said he believes the adjustments will make Seattle more fundamentally sound defensively and the linebackers could be the benefactors.

”I think this defense is hungry,” Wright said. ”We have a lot to prove. Myself, the secondary with all the guys leaving, the (defensive) line with the guys leaving. It’s going to be fun because you’ve got guys who want to come and show who they are.”

The Indiana Pacers kept insisting this team was different.

Anyone who doubted them coming into the playoffs understands now.

On Friday Lars Eller Jersey , the one-year anniversary of a historic playoff collapse against Cleveland, Indiana flipped the script by rallying from a 17-point halftime deficit and held on for a 92-90 victory over the Cavaliers to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. They can take command of the series by winning Sunday on their home court.

”Last year’s team, I don’t know if we would have gone down 17, I don’t know if we would have overcome it,” forward Thaddeus Young said. ”But this team, we’ve been resilient all year. We’ve overcome adversity.”

And on Friday they did it against a Cavaliers team that was 39-0 in the regular season when leading after three quarters.

Bojan Bogdanovic scored 19 of his playoff career-high 30 points in the second half, finishing 7 of 9 on 3-pointers. Victor Oladipo added 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Bogdanovic also spent most of the game defending LeBron James, who finished with 28 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and six turnovers. He joined Michael Jordan as the only players in league history with 100 double-doubles in the postseason. Jordan had 109.

James almost single-handedly rallied his team twice from seven-point deficits in the final 3 1/2 minutes.

The three-time defending Eastern Conference champs were outscored 52-33 over the final 24 minutes.

”We were more aggressive in the first half. We had tempo, they didn’t http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/jaire-alexander-jersey ,” James said. ”Then they were more aggressive in the second half, they had tempo, and we didn’t.”

Young is one of the few players still around from the record-breaking, 26-point collapse last year, which is one reason coach Nate McMillan has continually opted not to discuss it.

After the Pacers cut the 57-40 halftime deficit to 69-63 at the end of three, the Pacers continued to apply pressure and eventually Bogdanovic finally broke through with a four-point play that gave Indiana an 81-77 lead with 6:10 left. It was Indiana’s first lead since midway through the first quarter.

He was far from finished.

Bogdanovic knocked down another 3 to make it a seven-point game.

Then, after James countered with seven straight to tie the score, Bogdanovic scored on a layup and hit his final 3 before Young’s layup made it 91-84 with 53 seconds to go.

James and Kevin Love made back-to-back 3s to make it 91-90, and Cleveland got one more chance after Darren Collison missed the second free throw with 5 seconds left.

But J.R. Smith’s 38-foot heave came up short.

”It’s great to be on the other end,” Myles Turner said. ”You never want to get down that far and have to try and come back. To be down in that position is not ideal. The resiliency of this team, it’s unbelievable.”

TIP-INS

Cavaliers: Have lost five of seven to the Pacers and are 0-3 in Indianapolis this season. … Cleveland is 37-7 in the playoffs against Eastern Conference teams since James returned in 2015. … Love finished with 19 points and six rebounds despite playing with an injured left thumb. … George Hill scored nine points in the first quarter and finished with 13. … James has 12 straight double-doubles against the Pacers. He also played in his 221st career playoff game to move past Kobe Bryant for No. 6 on the career list.

Pacers: Have won only two of their last seven playoff games against the Cavs. … Indiana is now 12-3 in games decided by three or fewer points this season. … The Pacers have rallied from deficits of 15 or more points nine times. … Bogdanovic tied the Pacers’ playoff record for 3s made, which was done four other times.

TEMPERS FLARE

Indiana’s fans booed the refs loudly throughout the first half. Then they really got upset after watching Oladipo crash hard to the floor on the final play of the half.

No foul was called and Oladipo slapped the floor before getting up and complaining.

If that wasn’t enough to upset the crowd Dorian O'Daniel Color Rush Jersey , Larry Nance Jr. walked over and started yelling at Oladipo. That’s when Young stepped in and tried to peacemaker.

Nobody was called for a technical foul.

HOW BAD WAS IT?

Whether the verbal jabs provided any fuel at halftime, the Cavs certainly weren’t the same in the second half, when they were 13 of 28 from the field, 5 of 22 on 3s and had 10 turnovers.

James scored 15 points over the final two quarters, while his teammates accounted for 18. Following the game, James was asked about getting more support from his teammates.

”What are you guys looking for? You think I’m going to throw my teammates under the bus?” James said before the reporter explained that’s not what he meant. ”I’m not about that. Guys have got to play better – including myself. I had six turnovers tonight. I was horrible in the third quarter. I couldn’t make a shot. If I make some better plays in the third quarter (it’s a different game).”

THEY SAID IT

Cavaliers: ”I’m confident,” coach Tyronn Lue said. ”I think if we play the way we did in the first half, we can definitely win. We’ve got to win come Sunday.”

Pacers: ”A lot of teams have been close with LeBron but he ends up winning,” McMillan said. ”So we’re not in this thing to be close.”

UP NEXT

Game 4 is Sunday at Indianapolis.

More NBA basketball: The Buffalo Bills plan to retire Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas’ No. 34 jersey Oct. 29 when they host the New England Patriots.

Thomas will become the third player to have his number retired. The Bills retired quarterback Jim Kelly’s No. 12 in 2001 and defensive end Bruce Smith’s No. 78 in 2016.

Thomas, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, played for the Bills from 1988-99 and was a part of four straight AFC championship teams. He spent his final season with the Miami Dolphins.

Thomas was named the NFL’s most valuable player in 1991. He’s the only player in NFL history to lead the league in yards from scrimmage for four straight seasons.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007.

Jameis Winston's three-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy predictably was a hot topic of discussion when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reported for training camp.

That is Sam Reinhart Jersey , except for the quarterback himself.

The fourth-year pro, who'll miss the start to a season in which the Bucs are hoping to end a decade-long playoff drought, was not among three players the team made available for interviews Wednesday at One Buccaneer Place.

Instead, Winston and coach Dirk Koetter are scheduled to speak publicly about the suspension for the first time after practice Thursday.

Meanwhile, teammates Lavonte David, Mike Evans and Ali Marpet expressed support for the 24-year-old quarterback, who was disciplined after the league's investigated an accusation that Winston groped a female Uber driver during a ride in Scottsdale, Arizona, in March 2016.

David said Winston, who was drafted No. 1 overall in 2015 despite questions about his behavior in college at Florida State, made a "silly mistake back in the day" but that the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner isn't a bad person.

"He knows what he's done. He's going to learn from it because from whenever it happened to now, he's matured a lot," David said, adding Winston is engaged to be married to his long-time girlfriend and recently became a father.

"It happened a long time ago. It was a bad decision by him," the linebacker, entering his seventh pro season, said. "I'm 100 percent sure he's learned from it."

The NFL concluded Winston violated the league's personal conduct policy by touching the Uber driver "in an inappropriate and sexual manner without her consent."

The quarterback apologized for the incident in a statement released on Facebook last month, but has not spoken publicly about it since the NFL announced its findings.

During his college career at Florida State, a fellow student said Winston raped her but he was never charged.

The university settled a Title IX lawsuit over its handling of the allegations with Winston's accuser, Erica Kinsman Chiefs Authentic Jerseys , in January 2016 for $1.7 million.

Evans said Winston is "one of my best friends." And while the receiver added "obviously I was hurt by" what happened, he reiterated he remains supportive and is confident backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick can help the Bucs stay afloat during the suspension.

Tampa Bay has missed the playoffs 10 consecutive season and hasn't won a postseason game since the club's 2002 Super Bowl run.

Marpet, an offensive lineman who was part of Winston's draft class, said he learned of the suspension from the quarterback himself.

"We talked, and his mindset is how can he be the best teammate moving forward. I think he's doing that. We all support him. We're one family," the fourth-year guard said.

"For the first three games, we'll have a different quarterback," Marpet added. "But again, I think we'll do a really nice job. We believe in Fitzy, and there are a lot of other talented players that can step up."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Titans coach Mike Vrabel believes Tennessee’s running back duo will be a problem for opponents.

The former linebacker refused to tip his hand when asked how he would defend Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis himself.

“I would have rather not tackled Derrick, and I would have rather not covered Dion” in the open field, said Vrabel, who played 14 years in the NFL.

Vrabel made it clear that how the Titans divvy up the workload between the running backs will depend on how coaches want to attack each opponent. The 2015 Heisman Trophy winner , Henry brings a bruising style while displaying speed in the open field. The 5-foot-8 Lewis is much smaller next to the 6-3 Henry but flits around in open space making defenders miss.

“Man, I thought he was gone that one that he caught, like he was skating,” Henry said of his new teammate. “But that’s Dion. That’s what he does: make people miss. He has quick feet and get him out in space he can be dangerous.”

As a first-year head coach, Vrabel and his new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur have a pair of running backs that together could be the franchise’s best duo since Chris Johnson and LenDale White combined for 2,001 yards in 2008. That season the Titans started 10-0 and finished with a league-best 13-3 record. The Titans’ top two backs in 2009 combined for 2 T.J. Oshie Jersey ,287 yards with Johnson getting 2,006 himself.

Henry backed up DeMarco Murray the past two seasons, though he led the Titans with 744 yards rushing last year despite starting only two games. He showed off his speed with a 75-yard touchdown run while also taking a pass 66 yards for another TD.

Coming from Alabama where he left as the school’s all-time leading rusher, Henry also has been very much a team player. Looking at Lewis, Henry said he thinks they can be very good together.

“We’re two different styles of back like he’s quick, he has good wiggle,” Henry said. “He’s good out of the backfield catching the ball and I’m downhill physical so I think we complement each other well.”

The Titans signed Lewis to a four-year deal in March after seeing the running back up close in their divisional playoff loss to the Patriots. Lewis ran 15 times for 62 yards and caught nine passes for 79 yards helping New England rout the Titans. For his career, Lewis averages 4.8 yards per carry with 10 TDs rushing, and he has five more TDs averaging 8.1 yards per reception.

Lewis showed off just how elusive he can be in last weekend’s 30-14 exhibition loss to Tampa Bay. He caught both passes thrown to him, taking one 16 yards. Marcus Mariota said Lewis makes it easy on quarterbacks with his body language and how the running back executes his routes.

“It causes a lot of problems for the defense,” Mariota said. “Anytime you can have an advantage, you got to try exploit that as much as you can. Dion provides that for us, and you see once that guy gets the ball in his hands he’s tough to tackle. Any which way that we can find to get him the ball is going to be beneficial for us.”

The Titans hope this running back tandem provides a boost in both the run and pass game. Tennessee slumped to 15th last season with 109.7 yards rushing and ranked just 23rd averaging 224.4 yards passing per game.

Lewis knows exactly what he can do once he gets the ball in the open field.

“They brought me here to make plays in space and be the player I am, so whenever I get the opportunity to (do) that I just got to show my ability and be dependable,” Lewis said.

NOTES: The Titans made some roster moves, agreeing to terms with a trio of linebackers in Jeff Knox, Nyles Morgan and Deontae Skinner. They waived LB Brandon Chubb, LB Davond Dale and OL Matt Diaz.

Marcus Mariota ran to his right Authentic Antonio Callaway Jersey , looked to pass and found nobody open. So the Tennessee quarterback pump-faked, darted left and flew past rookie linebacker Harold Landry III.

Yes, Mariota is looking very healthy in the opening days of training camp.

And the quarterback isn't wearing a knee brace either. It's a perfect combination for Mariota learning yet another new offense with his third different head coach. A healthy Mariota gives the Titans the chance to maximize their offense with the quarterback going into his fourth NFL season with the team already having picked up his fifth-year option for 2019.

"To have the opportunity to go out there and get reps physically, it's so pivotal for me," Mariota said Friday. "You know, I'm definitely a reps guy. I'm definitely a mental guy, so when I'm out there, and I get the opportunity to practice, it means the world to me, and I think that being healthy has just given me that opportunity."

Mariota came to Tennessee in 2015 as a Heisman Trophy winner and the No. 2 pick overall in the draft with Ken Whisenhunt as his first head coach. That relationship ended with Whisenhunt fired in November with his quarterback missing two of the first seven games with a sprained knee.

Mike Mularkey took the job for the rest of that season with Mariota missing the final two games after spraining his other knee. Mariota has missed only one game each of the past two seasons with the Titans going 9-7 in each, but the quarterback broke his right leg on Christmas Eve of 2016 . Mariota missed a loss in Miami last season after hurting a hamstring.

Mariota led the Titans to their first playoff berth since 2008 and first postseason win since January 2004 last season, and he put on a show once there.

He became the franchise's youngest quarterback to win a playoff game James Hurst Jersey , rallying the Titans from an 18-point deficit to beat Kansas City with the second-largest comeback by a road team in NFL postseason history. Mariota became the first quarterback in league history to complete a pass to himself in the postseason, catching a batted pass for a touchdown .

But Mariota ranked 30th with 3,232 yards passing last season and tied for 26th with only 13 TD passes leaving plenty of room for improvement.

Capitalizing on Mariota's skills prompted controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk to fire Mularkey after a divisional playoff loss in New England and hire Mike Vrabel as his replacement . Vrabel hired Matt LaFleur, who also interviewed for the same job, as his offensive coordinator to install a scheme to maximize what Mariota can do both throwing and running with the ball.

"Who else is there that we would rather have than Marcus as our leader?" wide receiver Taywan Taylor said. "He's the engine to this offense. He's so poised and confident, we feed off him. He's been our guy, so we're looking forward to it."

On Friday, the Titans signed two-time Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan to a five-year extension to keep protecting Mariota. They also signed three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker through 2020 to keep a favorite target around.

The biggest key for Mariota has been time not wasted this year on recovering from yet another injury. That has allowed him to work with his wide receivers throughout the offseason. He also hasn't missed a snap as the starter during the offseason program or so far in training camp.

Mariota also has been practicing without a knee brace, perhaps the biggest sign of just how healthy he feels. Whether that continues in the regular season remains to be seen.

"Honestly, I'm not really even thinking about it ...," Mariota said. "Looking back on it, it was a long journey Youth Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys , and I'll never take any of that for granted, so when I'm out here, I have an opportunity to get better with these guys, I do enjoy it."

NHL players are extremely lucky that they have the opportunity to make far more money than the average human being. Most players end up making at least $1 million per year and that is truly outstanding for them. With that amount of money, there is absolutely no reason for these to not spend it on items that they have always dreamed of owning. Due to this, many hockey players are extremely quick to spending their money and we are often given a glimpse of what they have gotten. Although it is fun to have a lot of money, it is also important to note that players can end up making huge financial mistakes that leave them with very little.

The players on this list are all active members of the NHL, so it is important to note that they still are receiving high amounts of cash today. The players on this list are all extremely talented players and rightfully so. These are the players that make the most money and it would be shocking if they did not spend their money. However, this list will also show others who do just the opposite. Some of the purchases that these athletes have made will truly shock you and make you wish that you were able to make it to the pros. Yet, that is sadly not the case for the majority of us so 9 to 5 jobs are our best options.

Nonetheless, let鈥檚 take a look at the ten big NHL spenders and five players who pinch their pennies!

Andrew Benintendi and the Red Sox easily made up for David Price’s bad outing.

Benintendi homered http://www.officialflames.com/authentic-adidas-jaromir-jagr-jersey , doubled, walked a career-high four times and scored four runs, and Boston routed the Kansas City Royals 15-4 on Saturday night.

Mookie Betts had four hits, raising his American League-leading average to .343. Ten Red Sox players had RBIs as they scored a season high in runs. They scored 11 runs after the sixth inning.

They needed the big finish to overcome Price’s poor start. He was lifted after 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with nine strikeouts.

”I put us in a hole early,” Price said. ”We bounced back in the fifth inning with that four-spot then to give up the lead the way I did, not to be able to get through five innings, that’s tough. I’m struggling right now, searching, so that’s a big win for us to be able to come back the way we did.”

Benintendi became the sixth Boston player to walk four times and homer in a nine-inning game.

Xander Bogaerts had three RBIs for the Red Sox, who have won five straight and 12 of their past 15.

Christian Vazquez had a two-run, two-out single in the seventh.

Royals pitchers walked 13, one shy of the franchise record, including three in the three-run seventh. Mitch Moreland’s sacrifice fly scored Benintendi, who led off the inning with his fourth walk, for the first run of the inning.

The Red Sox rallied from a three-run deficit to take the lead with a four-run fifth, which Bogaerts highlighted with a three-run double.

”(Brad Keller) was on,” Bogaerts said of the KC starter. ”It was a tough pitch. Good thing I hit it hard and it kind of ran away from (center fielder Alcides) Escobar. He was throwing a good game until that last inning. He started to lose a little command. The walks might have got them in a little trouble – two-out walks, leadoff walks.”

Keller walked five, including Benintendi and Moreland in the fifth to load the bases before Bogaerts’ double. J.D. Martinez singled in the initial run of the inning Kerry Hyder Jersey , hiking his major league-leading RBI total to 74.

”He got into the fifth inning and got two quick outs,” Royals manager Ned Yost said. ”He just couldn’t make that pitch to get through that inning at that point.”

The next five batters reached base, four scored and Keller was pulled.

”You get two outs and think on the attack, but unfortunately it snowballed really quick on me,” Keller said.

Price, who had never hit three batters in a game, hit three Royals in a four-batter span, including Lucas Duda with the bases loaded to bring home Whit Merrifield in the fifth to tie the score at 4.

Heath Hembree (4-1) worked 1 1/3 hitless innings to pick up the victory. Jason Adam (0-2), the third of seven KC pitchers, took the loss. Catcher Drew Butera got the final out in his sixth career relief appearance and his first since 2016.

”I was trying not to get anybody hurt, including myself,” Butera said.

The Royals led 3-0 after Duda homered in the second and they scored twice more in the third.

The Royals have lost eight straight and 27 of 32 to fall 38 games below .500 for the first time since ending the 2006 season 62-100. They have lost 14 of their past 15 games at Kauffman Stadium.

LONGEST GAME

The game lasted 4 hours, 3 minutes, the longest nine-inning game for both clubs this season.

MOUSTAKAS AT FIRST

Mike Moustakas, who normally plays third, made his third start of the season at first. It was probably no coincidence a Yankees scout was in attendance and they are in the market for a first baseman.

ROSTER MOVE

The Royals placed RHP Justin Grimm on unconditional release waivers. Grimm had been on the disabled list with a right shoulder impingement. He was 1-3 with a 13.50 ERA in 16 relief appearances.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Red Sox: Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez broke his right little finger sliding into second base in the seventh inning and will go on the disabled list Sunday. .. RHP Joe Kelly was led off the field by the trainer in the eighth with light headiness. LHP Drew Pomeranz (bicep tendinitis) made a rehab start Saturday for Triple-A Pawtucket. He allowed one run on five hits and two walks over three innings, while striking out one. He threw 37 strikes in 60 pitches against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

UP NEXT

Red Sox: RHP Rick Porcello, who is 10-3 with a 3.57 ERA in 18 starts, is the probable for the series finale.

Royals: RHP Jakob Junis has lost his previous seven starts to tumble to 5-10 with a 5.13 ERA in 17 starts.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked today to talk about Tom Brady, but he wouldn’t.

Brady is absent from the Patriots’ Organized Team Activities http://www.buccaneersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-m.j.-stewart-jersey , and when Belichick was asked about that, he quickly shut it down.

“I’m not going to talk about the people who aren’t here. The guys who are here are improving, working hard. That’s who we’re going to focus on,” Belichick said.

Belichick was also asked about Rob Gronkowski, who is also absent but is expected to make it to OTAs at some point. Again, Belichick declined to talk.

“I’m focused on the guys that are here and those are the guys we’re working with in the OTA process Phase 3,” Belichick said.

In fact, Belichick didn’t talk much about the players who were there, either. When asked about some of the Patriots’ rookie draft picks, Belichick said it had already been covered in the team’s post-draft press conference.

Belichick did say that OTAs are valuable.

“It’s always good to get back on the field and be working with everybody in Phase 3,” Belichick said. “We were able to do a little bit in Phase 2 against air, get some teaching and instruction, but this is much better. It’ll progress faster and just do more with our team, starting yesterday and for the next couple weeks. It’s always good to get to that point. We have a lot of new players on our team.”

So OTAs are important, and Brady isn’t there, but what Belichick draws from that we’ll have to figure out for ourselves, because Belichick isn’t talking about Brady.

Carlos Santana says this is the era of prolonged excellence Ondrej Kase Jersey , which is why these NBA Finals featuring LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors is so appealing to him.

The 10-time Grammy winner and three-time Latin Grammy winner appeared on the “PodcastOne Sports Now” show to talk about how he enjoys being part of the NBA Finals. Santana and his wife Cindy Blackman Santana spoke to guest host Tim Reynolds before they performed ”The Star-Spangled Banner” at Game 2 of the series.

There’s a ton of talk about the intersection between sports and politics, especially after the Philadelphia Eagles’ trip to the White House was called off. Skidmore College coach and former Navy assistant Joe Burke joins the show to break down what it means to players to represent the flag the right way.

Warriors center JaVale McGee also stops by the show, talking about how being part of Golden State has changed him as both a player and a person.

Prospective Wembley owner Shahid Khan wants to host 2030 World Cup matches and has assured the English Football Association the national stadium can remain the centerpiece of major tournaments if the sale is completed.

England has been exploring a bid for the 2030 centenary World Cup but is yet to say if it will challenge the early applicant from maiden host Uruguay, which has launched a joint campaign with Argentina and Paraguay.

Khan told The Associated Press that "very preliminary talks" have been held with the FA about bidding for the FIFA tournament. The 90,000-capacity Wembley, which would be required for the final, is already due to host seven games at the continent-wide European Championship in 2020, including the last three games. England is also vying to host the Women's European Championship in 2021.

"We would want it to host the World Cup and anything else that is available John Kelly Color Rush Jersey ," Khan said in a telephone interview. "The FA still has key assets there they will be getting revenue off. All of us will be aligned to use it and build on the heritage of the place."

Khan, who also owns the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and London soccer team Fulham, hopes his purchase of Wembley from the FA goes through in two to three months after a period of due diligence.

"We are going to be perfectly aligned (with the FA) ... on all the important issues," Khan said.

The FA is still expecting to have use of the national stadium for England games and major cup finals, even if the sale goes through for a price of around 600 million pounds ($840 million).

"Wembley is still going to be an iconic British stadium," Khan said. "We are going to be investing more in it to keep it right up to the leading edge of game-day experience."

There was a large backlash when Wembley's distinctive white twin towers were demolished to make way for the new Norman Foster-designed stadium, which opened in 2007 featuring a "Triumphant Arch" towering 400 feet above the venue.

The reaction has been less hostile to the FA's plans to sell a facility it has owned for only the last two decades as it oversaw the reconstruction at a cost of 800 million pounds.

Gordon Banks, the goalkeeper who helped England win the World Cup in 1966 at Wembley Bruce Smith Jersey , fears NFL fixtures might take precedence over games for the national soccer team.

"It was a very special place and I don't think we should be selling it," Banks wrote in The Sun newspaper. "Football's gone wild with the money right now. I think it's spoiling the game a bit."

The Sun was one of four British newspapers to use their front or back pages on Friday to gather criticism of the proposed sale, saying "fury erupted."

The Daily Express headline asked, "Is nothing sacred? How on earth can the FA even think of selling Wembley Stadium when your money paid to build it twice."

The Daily Star launched a campaign to "Save Our Stadium," and the Daily Mirror said the FA was "selling football's soul" by selling the "home of the English game to an American billionaire."

Aware he might have to overcome resistance to the deal, Khan knows emotions run high when it comes to the scene of English soccer's greatest triumph in 1966.

"Obviously it has history and you have to respect it," Khan said. "When it comes to a transaction it's a lot of money but it's not the most money I've spent. I've spent a lot more money investing in auto factories in the last 12 months."

Khan built his fortune in the automotive industry after moving to the U.S. from Pakistan. He bought the Jaguars in 2011 and secured a deal to play annual NFL regular season games in London. The sports portfolio was expanded with the buyout of Fulham in 2013.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers would welcome the return of tight end Antonio Gates following the serious knee injury sustained by Hunter Henry last week.

Rivers endorsed the idea of re-signing Gates Tim Williams Jersey , who is a free agent after playing all 15 seasons of his record-setting career for the Chargers, but said the decision would be up to general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Anthony Lynn.

”I would always be excited if he walked back in the door, obviously. Certainly, he would get my vote,” Rivers said Tuesday.

Gates would be a logical fit to help replace Henry, who is expected to miss the upcoming season because of a torn ACL he sustained in practice. Henry had emerged as a top target for Rivers over his first two seasons with 81 receptions for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns, contributing to the team’s decision not to bring back Gates.

Gates caught 87 of his 114 touchdown receptions from Rivers, the second-most by a quarterback-receiver combination in NFL history behind the 112 touchdown passes Peyton Manning threw to Marvin Harrison for Indianapolis. Gates has the most touchdown receptions by a tight end in NFL history to go along with his franchise-record 927 receptions and 11,508 yards receiving.

The absence of Henry leaves Virgil Green as the only tight end currently on the roster that has caught a pass in an NFL game. Behind Green, who signed with the Chargers as a free agent from Denver in April, are second-year players Sean Culkin and Braedon Bowman and rookies Cole Hunt and Ben Johnson.

”It will look different without Hunter in there, but thankfully we have another 10 practices or so, counting the mini-camp, to continue to shape the offense for who we’re going to be,” Rivers said.

Rivers had been in contact with Gates since Henry tore his ACL, declining to discuss the specifics of their conversations.

”If something were to happen down the road, he wouldn’t have wanted it to come that way with Hunter’s absence,” Rivers said.

A new offseason workout plan has rejuvenated Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The 36-year-old indicated that he's in the best shape of his career Thursday following the team's first training camp practice at St. Vincent College.

A leaner, trimmer Roethlisberger hopes the additional offseason work can play a part in helping the Steelers to another championship.

"Anything you can do to lighten the load on your knees and ankles Andrew Billings Jersey , I think is important," said Roethlisberger, who worked with a personal trainer and nutritionist to cut sugar and carbohydrates from his diet to get him ready for his 15th season.

"The knees, the ankles, being lighter ... those are all positives when it comes to this age, playing football and a sport where you're pounding on your knees and you've had a couple knee surgeries."

It could be his last chance to win a championship with two-time All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell.

Bell is away from the team after he and the Steelers failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension earlier this month, meaning he will play under the $14.5 million franchise tag for the second straight year.

Bell skipped training camp last year and signed his franchise tender less than a week before the start of the season. He is expected to follow the same plan and then play what could be his final season in Pittsburgh.

"I don't know what's going on with his agents and how this whole thing works, so I'm not sure what's going to happen," Roethlisberger said.

Nobody's sure when Bell will show up either. Until then, former Pitt star running back James Conner, rookie fifth-round pick Jaylen Samuels and veterans Stevan Ridley and Fitzgerald Toussaint will carry the load.

"Le'Veon is one of the best, if not the best in the business," Roethlisberger said. "We miss him as a teammate, but I look at it as an awesome opportunity for the other guys."

Roethlisberger, whose contract expires in the spring of 2020, is excited about the offensive line in front of him and the Steelers' skill players at running back and wide receiver, led by Bell and four-time All-Pro Antonio Brown.

"I really like where this team is at," Roethlisberger said. "If I didn't have a good feeling about this team, it probably wouldn't be as exciting, but I am excited about this group."

He led the team to a 13-3 regular season last season Ravens Game Jerseys , which included a second straight AFC North title and third in four years. But the Steelers were upset by Jacksonville at home during the divisional round in the playoffs.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said it's reasonable to expect another big season from Roethlisberger after his renewed offseason conditioning focus.

"Regardless of position, we always say physical conditioning precedes anything else," Tomlin said. "When a guy shows up in great shape, that's oftentimes a springboard for big-time play."

While Roethlisberger hopes the additional work can prolong his career, he also reiterated that he's only focused on this season.

"I think the biggest key is physical health," Roethlisberger said. "When you get done with the season, how do you feel physically? Do you feel physically able to go back another season or not? We'll address that when the season is over and that's a long ways away."

Roethlisberger established career highs in completions, attempts, completion percentage, yards and touchdowns under Todd Haley, but shared an at-times contentious relationship with the Steelers' former offensive coordinator.

This season, he will work with former quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner, who has taken over the play-calling duties after Haley's deal wasn't renewed in January. Roethlisberger said Fichtner hasn't changed much offensively.

"He's not going to change who he is," Roethlisberger said. "He's not going to change his approach to the game and be a different person."

As long as it leads to a Super Bowl title, that's all that matters to Roethlisberger.

"If you win more than you lose, that's important, but winning those games can lead to Super Bowl opportunities, so that's always our ultimate goal," Roethlisberger said. "There's 31 other teams doing the same thing. That needs to be our singular focus."

« on: October 11, 2018, 03:39:46 am »
KANSAS CITY http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-lorenzo-carter-jersey , Mo. (AP) — Andy Reid will readily admit that he loves offensive linemen.

He played the position at BYU, for one thing. He coached the big guys for years in college and in the NFL before becoming a head coach in Philadelphia and Kansas City. And that affinity for perhaps the most underappreciated position on the field has never waned during three decades in the league.

Still, it was a bit surprising to see 10 of them make the Chiefs‘ active roster last weekend.

“Yeah,” Reid acknowledged Monday, “but we like the guys we got there. We’ve kept 10 before, and you know you can’t have enough of those guys. But everything in this thing is fluid.”

The offensive line isn’t the only spot where the Chiefs made some atypical roster decisions. They also kept just two quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Chad Henne, in a departure from Reid’s norm, and they’ll have just two tight ends available when they open the season against the Chargers on Sunday.

Demetrius Harris will join the fold in Week 2, once he serves his one-game drug suspension.

The Chiefs also kept an additional running back, giving them four ball-carriers along with fullback Anthony Sherman. Undrafted rookie Darrel Williams was able to crack the 53-man roster along with starter Kareem Hunt and backups Damien Williams and Spencer Ware, playing so well in training camp and throughout the preseason that the Chiefs didn’t want to let him go.

In fact, that belief in their youth shaped a lot of the Chiefs’ roster decisions.

They let go veteran quarterback Matt McGloin once they managed to stash undrafted free agent Chase Litton on their backup squad. They also cut loose veteran linebacker Frank Zombo, a mainstay since Reid’s arrival in 2013, in favor of undrafted rookie Ben Niemann and third-year pro Terrance Smith.

“Well Customized Washington Redskins Jerseys , we had some good young players we wanted to keep,” Reid said, speaking specifically about the choice to keep two QBs on the active roster, but a statement that could apply to the entire roster.

“We thought we’d do that and see how it worked. But it was in order to keep some younger guys.”

The Chiefs were one of the oldest teams in the league last season, particularly on defense, where linebackers Derrick Johnson and Tamba Hali helped drive the average age up. They still have their share of veterans, but a significant roster turnover has helped to bring that number back down.

In the secondary alone, the Chiefs have a trio of rookies in safety Armani Watts and cornerbacks Tremon Smith and Charvarius Ward. They also have a trio of rookie linebackers in Niemann and draft picks Breeland Speaks and Dorian O’Daniel, and another rookie up front in Derrick Nnadi.

The performance of the defensive backfield, though, will draw plenty of attention on Sunday. That’s because safety Eric Berry remains a question mark after a heel injury kept him out most of training camp, and the group was so shaky in preseason games that some late-camp additions were made.

Orlando Scandrick signed a free-agent deal to solidify cornerback. The Chiefs also traded for Ward the night of their preseason finale, then signed veteran safety Ron Parker over the weekend.

“We do have a couple of new, younger guys. I do like them,” Reid said. “There’s a good nucleus with that group. I have a lot of confidence in (defensive backs coach) Al Harris Eagles Paul Worrilow Jersey , and we’ll just give those guys an opportunity to grow. I’m good with the whole cornerback situation. I like what we have there. I’m looking forward to seeing how those guys develop throughout the season.”

Reid could say the same for just about every position on the team.

Notes: Reid declined to say whether Berry will be available for the opener, calling him day to day. “We’ll see how it goes,” Reid said. … Parker spent the past four seasons with the Chiefs before signing with Atlanta, which cut him last week. Reid said the veteran safety looked good in the preseason, though, and that he was hampered by a high ankle sprain much of last season. “He knows the system, knows the scheme,” Reid said. “We have a lot of trust in him.” … The Chiefs cut OL Bryan Witzmann and claimed OL Austin Reiter off waivers from Cleveland.

The La Verne Police Department announced on Tuesday that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed four charges, including attempted murder, against former NFL cornerback Brandon Browner after he was arrested on July 8.

Browner is accused of breaking into entering the home of a woman that he previously had a relationship with, forcing her back into the residence when she tried to flee and stealing a Rolex watch from her. The woman had a restraining order against Browner.

The statement from the La Verne Police Department said that Browner also faces felony charges of robbery, burglary and false imprisonment and two misdemeanor charges of child endangerment. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.

A first-degree attempted murder charge in California carries a maximum sentence of life in prison while second-degree charges carry a possible sentence of nine years in prison.

The latest on Pro Football Hall of Fame inductions Saturday in Canton Scott Hartnell Jersey , Ohio, and Terrell Owens’ separate celebration in Chattanooga, Tennessee (all times local):

10:30 p.m.

With a passionate 33-minute speech in which he strolled around the stage, ad libbed, praised and joked, spoke of sacrifice, love, glory and overcoming the odds, Ray Lewis entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

One of the best linebackers and leaders the game has seen, Lewis was the final man inducted of the seven class of 2018 members on hand. He was preceeded by Randy Moss, Brian Dawkins, Brian Urlacher, Jerry Kramer, Robert Brazile and Bobby Beathard.

Terrell Owens was not in Canton http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/al-woods-jersey , Ohio, choosing instead to hold his own ceremony in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

“Tell me something can’t be done is like pouring lighter fluid on an open flame,” said Lewis, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year who won a second Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens for the 2012 season — coming back from a torn triceps — then retired. He was the MVP of the 2001 title game.

“I came back, and boy did I come back,” Lewis said. “When you walk off the last time with that thing, that Lombardi, it’s a confirmation I am living proof of the impossible.”

A first-year nominee, Lewis was selected 26th overall in the 1996 draft — what were other teams thinking? He wasn’t even Baltimore first choice: Jonathan Ogden was, and the big tackle made the Hall of Fame in 2013.

His impact was immediate, both on the field, in the locker room, and even in pregame introductions Marcus Foligno Jersey , when his “squirrel dance” fired up fans and teammates alike. He and Ogden even did a short version on the stage.

Lewis was the first player with 40 sacks and 30 interceptions in a career. An eight-time All-Pro and inside linebacker on the 2000s NFL All-Decade Team, he had a franchise-record 2,643 career tackles.

WASHINGTON — The name of the arena has changed since the last time the Toronto Raptors visited the Washington Wizards in the playoffs.

That is not all.

Three years after getting swept by the Wizards in the first round of the playoffs — with the final two games coming at then Verizon Center — the Raptors roll into Capital One Arena on Friday night with a 2-0 edge in the best-of-seven series.

“We had some tough experiences out there, especially in the playoffs, right?” Jonas Valanciunas told the Toronto Sun after Thursday’s practice.

In 2015, the No. 5 Wizards — led by veteran Paul Pierce — pulled off a what was a mild upset of the No. 4 Raptors, closing out the series with a 31-point rout.

This time out, the No. 8 Wizards, who played a large chunk of the season without point guard John Wall, were again thought capable of upsetting the now top-seeded Raptors, but haven’t shown evidence of that.

Toronto, meanwhile, appears comfortable being the hunted and are up 2-0 in a playoff series for the first time in their history.

“A few years ago, we had to have that (underdog) mentality http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/mark-sanchez-jersey , that chip on our shoulder mentality, or else,” Raptors coach Dwane Casey told the Toronto Globe and Mail. “So we’re growing, I think our guys are developing a mental toughness that you have to have to be the favorite.”

The Raptors ensured the Wizards wouldn’t steal a game in Toronto by exploiting Washington’s defense for seven 3-pointers and 44 points in the first quarter of Tuesday night’s 130-119 victory. Washington, which trailed by as many as 23, pulled within 113-108 in fourth quarter before Toronto unleashed a 19-4 run.

DeMar DeRozan scored a career postseason-best 37 points on 14-of-23 shooting as Toronto shot 51.7 percent from the floor. Valanciunas added 19 points and 14 rebounds.

“We are shooting ourselves in the foot coming out to slow starts, allowing guys to get open threes, allowing guys to get those shots, allowing guys to get layups,” Bradley Beal told the Washington Post. “It has to be one or the other. We can’t give up 3s and layups, or we’re going to be down 20 in the first quarter.”

One bright spot for the Wizards was reserve Mike Scott, who had 20 points off the bench and was on the floor when Washington rallied.

Down 2-0, Washington coach Scott Brooks may opt to go with the 6-foot-8 Scott in place of 6-11 Marcin Gortat, who has struggled at both ends thus far.

“When we go small Authentic Adrian Peterson Jersey , Mike’s a guy that can shoot from the 3, and then they switch smalls on him, he can definitely score in the post,” Wall said.

The move could increase the inside advantage for a Toronto team that outrebounded Washington 48-34 in Game 2.

The Wizards could also use more offense from Beal, who is 11 of 28 in two games.

“That’s a little bit on him, a little bit on me, a little bit on John (Wall). We need him,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks told the Globe and Mail. “We’re going to have trouble beating this team if he’s not going to play better. And he will.”

Washington did not enjoy a strong home-court advantage this season, posting a 23-18 record at Capital One Arena, but Casey is ready for the worst.

“It’s going to be a hostile environment,” Casey told the Globe and Mail. “They’re going to be playing in a desperate mode, we’ve got to continue to be hungry, we’ve got to continue to go in with a fighter’s mentality to start the game as we did at home.”

Jonathan Marchessault scored twice and said the expansion Vegas Golden Knights sent a message Andrew Shaw Jersey , bouncing back with a 3-1 series-evening win over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference final.

”Every time we need a big game as a group, we show up,” Marchessault said. ”We showed the hockey world we earned the right to be here.”

Tomas Tatar scored 6:37 into the game for the Golden Knights and Marc-Andre Fleury finished with 30 saves.

Kyle Connor scored midway through the third period to pull Winnipeg within a goal. Marchessault restored the two-goal lead 1:28 later.

Connor Hellebuyck had 25 saves for the Jets.

After losing the series opener, Marchessault told reporters the team faced a must-win game.

”If you’re going to talk out there in the media that you have to be better, I think you need to lead by example,” he said. ”I tried to do that.”

Game 3 is Wednesday night in Las Vegas.

”I don’t think anybody is panicking,” Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba said. ”We like our road game. We like where it was in the Nashville series.”

Winnipeg won three times on the top-seeded Predators’ home ice, including Game 7 last week.

The expansion Golden Knights appeared to be rusty in the series opener and the Jets scored three goals early in a 4-2 win about 48 hours after advancing out of the second round.

It looked like they were going to pick up where they left off.

”They came out flying again with a lot of speed,” Fleury said.

Fleury Womens Brayden Point Jersey , who helped the Pittsburgh Penguins win three Stanley Cups, made key stops early and got help from teammate and a post in the opening minutes to keep the puck out of his net.

”Fleury had to make three or four really good saves in the first seven minutes,” Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said. ”We rebounded after that. We got that 2-0 lead and it was a different game for us. When teams are chasing the lead, it’s tough for teams to battle back.”

Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele, who has postseason-high 12 goals , got the puck past Fleury in the opening moments of the game and Vegas defenseman Nate Schmidt cleared it from the crease .

Vegas generated offense by making plays without the puck, forcing turnovers to set up goals.

”We were on them,” Golden Knights forward Erik Haula said. ”That’s our game. We’re a fast team. I think we showed that.”

Indeed.

After the Jets failed to control the puck out of a corner in their end, Tatar ended up stuffing the puck in the net after hitting the side of the net with a shot.

Connor was pressured into turning over the puck near center ice late in the opening period and Reilly Smith set up Marchessault Womens Patrick Mahomes Jersey , his former Florida Panthers teammate, at the blue line and he scored on a breakaway backhander.

”There was about 57 minutes of that game that was pretty good for us,” Jets captain Blake Wheeler said. ”Three minutes of it got away from us.

The Jets closed the scoreless second period and started the third on the power play and still couldn’t get the puck past Fleury.

Yet.

Winnipeg kept up the pressure on by relentlessly forechecking and drew another penalty early in the third. Connor took advantage, squeezing a shot between Fleury and the post from the bottom of the left circle 7:17 into the third.

That whipped the white-clad fans into a frenzy – triggering jeers of ”Fleu-ry! Fleu-ry!” – and were quickly quieted by another Marchessault backhander that beat Hellebuyck.

The Jets pulled their goaltender to add another skater over the last couple minutes of the game, but Fleury didn’t let the puck get past him again.

NOTES: Vegas put Tatar and Tomas Nosek in place of David Perron and Oscar Lindberg. Gallant said Perron was not a healthy scratch. ”He wasn’t feeling well,” Gallant said. ”I think he’ll be fine.” … The Jets have not lost consecutive games this postseason. … Vegas acquired Tatar from the Detroit Red Wings at the trade deadline for a first-round pick and he played in just his fifth game of this postseason and scored his first goal. ”What a luxury to be able to put Tomas Tatar into a game in the playoffs,” Schmidt said. ”The guy has been an incredible player in this league and proved it for many years.”

No longer part of the Browns‘ plans, Cody Kessler got passed to a new team.

Cleveland traded its former starting quarterback to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, the latest move for the Browns who have spent the offseason upgrading the team’s most troublesome position following a 0-16 season.

In exchange for Kessler Youth Matt Duchene Jersey , the Browns will receive a conditional 2019 seventh-round draft pick from the Jaguars, who were in the market to find a backup for starter Blake Bortles.

The 24-year-old Kessler had been in a steady slide down Cleveland’s depth chart after starting eight games as a rookie in 2016. But after the team acquired Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo, dealt DeShone Kizer to Green Bay and with the Browns expected to take a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft, there was no room for Kessler.

Last season, he entered training camp as the Browns’ starter but soon fell behind Kizer and Brock Osweiler and wound up being inactive for 10 games. He appeared in three games, completing 11 passes for 126 yards and was sacked six times.

Kessler’s tenure with the Browns began in mild controversy.

After the team passed on taking several other quarterbacks in the 2016 draft, Cleveland’s selection of Kessler in the third round drew criticism. Coach Hue Jackson tried to deflect the harsh assessments of Kessler by saying, ”Trust me” about the former Southern Cal standout.

Kessler wasn’t expected to get on the field as a rookie, but after injuries sidelined Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown Taron Johnson Jersey , he was thrust into action long before he was probably ready.

Kessler showed toughness and some potential by passing for 1,380 yards and six TDs. But he was sacked 21 times and it didn’t help that the Browns lacked playmakers to help him during a 1-15 season.

Jacksonville represents a fresh start for the likable Kessler.

”We are excited about the opportunity to add Cody as depth to our quarterback position,” said Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell. ”Despite being just 24 years old, Cody has already seen NFL game action and was very effective as a rookie in 2016, showing accuracy and efficiency in posting a quarterback rating of 90-plus.

”From our research and through getting to know Cody during the draft process, we know he is a smart, tough and competitive young man and we expect him to be a great addition to our quarterback and offensive meeting rooms.”

The New York Giants have agreed to a contract with veteran running back Jonathan Stewart Xavier Woods Jersey , who was released by the Carolina Panthers after 10 seasons.

The Giants announced the deal on Tuesday night. Terms were not disclosed.

The 30-year-old Stewart is Carolina's all-time leading rusher with 7,318 yards, and his 51 rushing touchdowns rank second in team history.

He immediately becomes the most accomplished running back on New York's roster. Orleans Darkwa, who led the Giants in rushing last season, is a free agent. Wayne Gallman and Paul Perkins are also on the roster.

"I am very pleased that we were able to make Jonathan a New York Football Giant," general manager Dave Gettleman, who previously had the same job with Carolina, said in a statement. "He is a quality runner with power and speed and brings a veteran, professional presence to our locker room. He's a terrific addition for us at this time."

Stewart was the 13th overall selection in the 2008 draft. His best season was in 2009, when he rushed for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Welcome to the Week 1 edition of Start or Sit. While all teams start out 0-0, the decisions you make on your first weekly lineup will make the difference on whether your season starts with a win come Tuesday morning.

START: Alex Collins, RB, Ravens: A potential breakout performer, Collins faces a Bills run defense that allowed 4.49 yards per carry to opposing backs last season. He also proved to be more effective at home Authentic Kareem Hunt Jersey , averaging 4.9 yards per carry and scoring four of his six touchdowns at M&T Bank Stadium, making him a good second running back (RB2) despite having his touches curbed by Javorius Allen, who will serve as Baltimore’s running back in passing situations.

SIT: John Conner, RB, Steelers: Waiver wires went hot upon news that Le’Veon Bell would not get the start at the Browns, giving the nod to Conner, who rushed for 144 yards on 32 carries in his rookie season. Cleveland’s run defense ranked among the league’s best last year, finishing seventh in yards allowed and second only to the Broncos in yards per carry allowed (3.4). Conner looks like fool’s gold and is more of a flex option than an RB2.

START: Trey Burton, TE, Bears: Do believe the hype with Burton, who is a solid TE1 that will see more than double the 29 percent of snaps he had with the Eagles last season. Burton also caught nearly 78 percent of passes targeted to him and will thrive with new coach Matt Nagy, who helped turn Travis Kelce into a Pro Bowler when he guided the Chiefs offense. An afternoon of double-digit targets awaits Burton, who faces a Packers defense that allowed 30 touchdown passes last season.

SIT: Josh Gordon, WR, Browns: Don’t expect much from Gordon Zdeno Chara Jersey , who will be lucky to see more than 15-20 snaps against the Steelers as he gets into game shape. Temptation lies strong with him, as Gordon did average 18.6 yards per catch in limited action last season. He’ll need the reps to become a more reliable receiver considering he caught just 41.8 percent of passes targeted to him. At best, Gordon is a flex in deeper, non-PPR leagues.

START: Chris Hogan, WR, Patriots: The Texans were 30th in average yards allowed per catch and gave up 30 touchdown passes, a perfect scenario for Hogan, who will be fed extensively by Tom Brady. Hogan averaged nearly 17 yards per catch in the postseason and scored a combined seven touchdowns on his 43 receptions during the regular season and playoffs. With the Houston defense focused on slowing down tight end Rob Gronkowski, look for Hogan, a high-end WR2, to put up WR1-caliber numbers.

SIT: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, 49ers: Only seven quarterbacks put up better fantasy numbers than Garoppolo over the last five games of the regular season. Garoppolo averaged 308.4 yards per game in that span but will be hard-pressed to reach that total against an aggressive Vikings defense that gave up a league-low 13 touchdown passes while finishing second to the Jaguars in passing yards allowed per game (192). There are better options available.

START: Andrew Luck, QB, Colts: It’s easy to forget that Luck ranked among the four best quarterbacks in fantasy football three times in the previous four years prior to last season. The Bengals were eighth in passing yards allowed but Luck won’t need much time to get readjusted to firing the ball to receiver T.Y. Hilton along with benefiting from an improved running game and offensive line. He’s worth the start and will remind fantasy owners why he threw 86 touchdowns in his previous three seasons.

SIT: Chris Carson Trent Williams Jersey , RB, Seahawks: After holding off rookie Rashaad Penny for the starting job, Carson projects to be a sleeper play. Guess again. The Broncos can still stop the run, finishing fifth in yards allowed while leading the league with a stingy 3.3 yards allowed per carry. Carson will get his share of touches, but the thought of playing him on the road against an elite run D should be more than enough for his owners to fill their flex positions with a better option.

START: Saquon Barkley, RB, Giants: There will be some trepidation in playing Barkley against a Jaguars defense that gave up just seven touchdowns to opposing running backs last season. Barkley belongs in the lineup on Sunday because his pass-catching skills will counter any resistance he may get from running the ball, especially if New York finds itself in catch-up mode. It’s not a stretch to envision Barkley getting at least 8-10 targets, and his open field skills could lead to a big play or two.

SIT: Randall Cobb, WR, Packers: Since catching 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014, Cobb’s numbers have been in freefall, plummeting to 66-653-4 to go along with a career-low 9.9 yards per catch last season. The return of Aaron Rodgers could perk up his numbers, but Cobb faces a Bears defense that was seventh in passing yards allowed while giving up a modest total of 18 touchdown passes last season. At this point Anthony Barr Jersey Big , Cobb is a fringe flex option that’s best off riding fantasy pine.

START: Antonio Gates, TE, Chargers: Gates decided to pause his countdown to Canton to return to the Chargers as a replacement for the injured Hunter Henry. Gates will be a red zone monster against the Chiefs and will get between 7-9 targets. At the very least, his presence will open things up for receivers Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin and Mike Williams.

SIT: Cameron Brate, TE, Buccaneers: Second-year tight end O.J. Howard continues to press for playing time, which will hurt Brate’s chances of being productive against the Saints. Brate can be productive, as his 12.3 yards per catch average in 2017 indicates, but Tampa Bay didn’t use a first-round pick on the freakishly gifted Howard to be a glorified run blocker.

FOXBOROUGH Roger Staubach Jersey , Mass. (AP) The Patriots have signed free agent receiver Eric Decker in hopes of adding depth to their receiving corps.

The eight-year NFL veteran signed with New England on Friday after working out for the team this week. The Patriots are looking to give quarterback Tom Brady more options following Julian Edelman’s four-game suspension for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancers, the free agency departure of Danny Amendola and trade of Brandin Cooks.

Decker, the husband of singer Jessie James Rafael Bush Jersey , joins his fourth NFL team. A third-round pick in the 2010 draft by Denver, the 31-year-old spent four seasons with the Broncos, three with the Jets and last season with the Titans.

He caught 54 passes for 563 yards and touchdown for Tennessee in 2017. He’s appeared in 111 games in his career with 83 starts Dustin Brown Jersey , amassing 5,816 receiving yards and 53 touchdowns.

Jets General Manager Mike Maccagnan’s first draft with the team came in 2015 and he selected six players.

Just one of those players — first-round pick Leonard Williams — will be on the team’s opening day roster this season. According to multiple reports, linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin and defensive lineman Deon Simon are among the team’s Saturday cuts.

Mauldin Henry Anderson Jersey , a third-round pick, missed all of last season with a back injury and never developed into the pass rushing threat the team hoped he would be off the edge. He had 33 tackles, 6.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 33 games with the team.

It’s the third time Simon has been cut by the team. He returned to the practice squad in both 2015 and 2017 and played in all 16 games during the 2016 season.

Wide receiver Devin Smith Womens Robin Lehner Jersey , quarterback Bryce Petty and guard Jarvis Harrison were the other Jets picks in 2015.

The Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2018 season with new backup quarterbacks.

The Seahawks acquired quarterback Brett Hundley from the Packers on Wednesday for an undisclosed draft pick.

Green Bay announced the trade late in the day Authentic Kirk Cousins Jersey , completing the deal on the cusp of the preseason finales for all teams.

The addition of Hundley gives Seattle a proven backup behind Russell Wilson. The Seahawks are reportedly sending a late-round draft pick to Green Bay and coach Pete Carroll said it was another opportunity to improve the Seahawks roster.

"It his fourth year now, he's played quite a bit and started a bunch of games last year," Carroll said. "We've been able to see him and really see how he has developed, and we liked him coming out of college as well. He's big, he runs well, he's got a good arm, he's got good vision on the field, he's made a lot of big throws and big plays. He really gives you the thought that he could come in the game and keep it moving. So we just thought it was too good of an opportunity to pass up."

Hundley stepped into a starting role last season for the Packers when Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone. Hundley started nine games and the Packers went 3-6. He threw for 1,836 yards and nine touchdowns, but also threw 12 interceptions.

His acquisition likely means the end of Austin Davis' stint as Wilson's backup in Seattle. Davis has been with the Seahawks since the start of the 2017 season.

In Green Bay, the deal means that DeShone Kizer has won the backup job behind Rodgers. The former second-round pick started 15 games for the winless Cleveland Browns last season as a rookie and was acquired by the Packers in the offseason.

Seattle's backup quarterback situation has been tenuous for several seasons ever since Tarvaris Jackson was not re-signed after the 2015 season. Wilson played through significant injuries in 2016 with Trevone Boykin only being used in brief moments and last season Wilson took every offensive snap with Seattle avoiding having to use Davis as a replacement.

But Davis has been inconsistent this preseason and rookie seventh-round draft pick Alex McGough has shown enough promise to be a development option as a backup for the future. That still left Seattle in a shaky spot not wanting to use a rookie should something happen to Wilson and why the trade for Hundley makes sense.

Hundley started nine of 11 games last season when Rodgers was injured. His best game came in Week 13 when he threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Cleveland. But Hundley also had games where he struggled, twice failing to pass for more than 100 yards in losses to New Orleans and Tampa Bay.

Hundley is also entering the final year of his rookie contract and will be a free agent after the season.

The deal could also clear the way for the Packers to keep promising undrafted free agent Tim Boyle as a third quarterback.

"I think I've progressed pretty fast. It's a pretty hard offense. I take pride in the fact that I'm learning every day. Obviously, having (Rodgers) in front of you helps you out a lot," Boyle said Tuesday. "But it's a business and I understand that, so whatever happens, happens."

Booth reported from Seattle.

The list of players sitting out this weekend’s conference championships is almost as impressive as the starting lineups: Julian Edelman. Carson Wentz. Dalvin Cook. Dont’a Hightower. Allen Robinson. Sam Bradford.

Following the NFL’s season of carnage that claimed the likes of Andrei Vasilevskiy Jersey , among others, Aaron Rodgers, Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, J.J. Watt, DeShaun Watson, Odell Beckham Jr. and Joe Thomas, this year’s final four all overcame not only the odds – ”Minneapolis Miracle , anyone?” – but devastating injuries to key starters.

”We have a tough and resilient team,” Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long said of the NFC’s top seed , which is missing its second-year QB in Wentz, an MVP hopeful when he blew out a knee in December.

Even before Wentz’s injury thrust backup Nick Foles into the starting job for the playoffs, the Eagles lost nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters, playmaking middle linebacker Jordan Hicks, versatile return specialist Darren Sproles, and special teams captain Chris Maragos.

Yet Authentic Kevin White Jersey , here they are, 60 minutes from Minneapolis and Super Bowl 52.

”I think that starts at the top with Doug, because he sets the tone for being resilient and even keeled,” Long said of his coach, Doug Pederson. ”At the end of the day, we have a tough group of guys.”

So do the Minnesota Vikings, who are trying to reach their first Super Bowl in more than four decades and fulfill mantra to ”Bring it Home” and become the first NFL team to play the title game in its own stadium.

And they’re doing so behind Case Keenum, who crashed Tom Brady’s playoff party along with fellow perennial backup Foles and Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles.

Together, the four quarterbacks left standing have a combined five Super Bowl rings, two NFL MVP awards and four Super Bowl MVP trophies. Brady, of course, owns all of that hardware himself.

Such is the panorama of these playoffs following a season of pain in which so many superstars were rendered sideline spectators with broken bones, snapped ligaments, torn muscles.

Keenum replaced an injured Bradford, who had replaced an injured Teddy Bridgewater. Bradford, now back in uniform as Keenum’s backup Gabriel Landeskog Jersey Kids , blew out a knee in the first month of the season, as did rookie running back in Cook, who needed reconstructive surgery to repair a torn ACL.

Behind resilient coach Mike Zimmer , who resisted the urge to quit just before he got the Vikings’ head coaching gig in 2014, Minnesota rolled right along. Keenum deftly took over for Bradford, and Jerick McKinnon and Latavius Murray became a productive backfield tandem.

”We’ve got a bunch of fighters on this team,” Zimmer said. ”They’ve been a resilient bunch all year long. I expect it to continue to be that way.”

The Patriots are also a bunch of fighters; they reached their seventh straight AFC title game despite losing Edelman, Brady’s top target, to a torn ACL in the preseason, and Hightower to a torn chest muscle in November.

Play caller Josh McDaniels and Brady, who led New England to a fifth Super Bowl title last year despite the absence of Rob Gronkowski, adjusted accordingly to Edelman’s absence with another terrific year.

Linebacker Kyle Van Noy stepped in for Hightower and ranked third on the team with 73 tackles and second with 5+ sacks despite missing three of the final five games with a calf injury.

Van Noy’s sack total was just a half-sack shy of Hightower’s career high set in 2014.

”The thing about K.V. is he’s very versatile,” said Patriots safety and defensive captain Devin McCourty. ”So we’ve used him a bunch of different ways. … He’s been a big asset to our team.”

The Jaguars are the healthiest of the remaining playoff teams. They have only one opening-day starter on injured reserve: former Pro Bowl receiver Robinson, who tore his left ACL on Jacksonville’s opener.

Four months removed from reconstructive surgery, Robinson is now traveling with the team, so he’ll be on the sideline Sunday at New England http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/jordan-poyer-jersey , serving as a mentor to a raw receiving corps.

”Every person in this locker room put in a lot of work to get to this point, with me being one of them,” said Robinson, who was poised for another big year after dominating the league’s best secondary in training camp.

His injury on Jacksonville’s third offensive snap created a huge void for the offense. Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns tried to pick up the slack, but they ended up on the sideline at one point with injuries, too, leaving rookies Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook to assume bigger roles.

Cole, an undrafted rookie from tiny Kentucky Wesleyan, had 42 catches for 748 yards and three scores in the regular season. He added a clutch 45-yard catch that set up a late TD in Jacksonville’s 45-42 stunner at Pittsburgh last week.

”I wish I could just wake up tomorrow and feel like I did Sept. 9,” Robinson said, ”but I understand it’s going to be a process. I know I’ll be back to that point and better.”

Like so many other stars, Robinson will be in street clothes Sunday, cheering on his teammates in hopes of getting a sideline pass to the Super Bowl.
